Dionis J. Rodriguez

Founder and Managing Principal


Dionis Rodriguez founded Crimson Rock Capital in 2014 to pursue a highly focused, value-oriented investment strategy in the hotel space. Crimson Rock Capital is Sponsor and Founder of Sojourner Glamping, a leading glamping company bringing outdoor resorts to the everyday consumer and making a difference to their local communities. Dionis founded The Crimson Connection to develop a real estate alumni community across top business schools and increase the collective success of its participants while supporting high performing nonprofit organizations. He is the author of the book Shift Your Paradigm, which aims to empower the reader to reach their full potential and to make a difference to society.

Prior, he was Executive Vice President, Acquisitions & Development at GB Lodging (now GFI Hospitality), a NYC hotel investment and asset management firm that developed The Beekman, A Thomson Hotel and Residences, The Nomad Hotel and The Ace Hotel New York. From 2009-2011 Dionis was Managing Partner of Optimus Hotel Partners, responsible for an international portfolio of direct and entity level investments in hotels and mixed-use projects. From 2007-2009, Mr. Rodriguez was a Vice President of Amstar Global Partners (Amstar Group), an investment firm that has deployed $2.0+ billion in equity in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Prior to joining Amstar, Mr. Rodriguez was an Associate at AIG Global Real Estate where he completed over $200M of equity investments (including forward commitments) and asset managed a portfolio ~ $1B in retail, industrial, office and mixed-use development projects in Central and Eastern Europe. Prior, as Director of Development & Feasibility at New Castle Hotels, he participated in the acquisition and development of several hotels in the U.S. and Canada. As a Senior Associate at HVS International, he appraised and/or advised clients on hotels valued at over $1 billion in the U.S. and Mexico.

Mr. Rodriguez earned an MBA at Harvard Business School, where he was co-president of the Hospitality and Travel Industry Club, and a Bachelor of Science degree, with a double concentration in real estate and finance, from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. Mr. Rodriguez is a board member for The Harvard Business School Club of New York, The Guestbook, and was Founder and President/Chairman of the Board of the Harvard Business School Real Estate Alumni Association. He is a former member of the Board of Managers of the Harvard Club of New York and is a past Trustee of New York Nativity Centers. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of The Cornell Baker Program in Real Estate and Cobu. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Teaching Matters, a non-profit education organization based in NY whose vision is that every child has equitable access to great teaching.

Andrew Murphy

Managing Partner, Outdoor Resorts


Andrew is a Partner at Crimson Rock Capital, and Co-founder of Sojourner Glamping Company. Prior to joining CRC and co-founding Sojourner, Andrew led the development, opening, and initial operations of Zaina Lodge in Mole National Park, the first safari lodge established in West Africa, and the highest rated property in Ghana on TripAdvisor. He led the business planning and capital raise for the lodge, which culminated in an USD $8.2 million investment from private investors based in Ghana, Tanzania, the US, and the Netherlands. Andrew is currently a board member and shareholder in Zaina Lodge. He has served as a strategic advisor to multiple organizations across the globe, most recently serving as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board of the Philadelphia Zoo, has over 23 years of experience in Ghana, and deep experience in the links between conservation and business development. Andrew started his career as a change management consultant for Accenture, then served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Northern Ghana working on community-based ecotourism, and eventually led a global market transformation program at the World Wildlife Fund before founding the company in Ghana.

Andrew graduated from Georgetown University and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He was once President of the largest completely student-run corporation in the nation, Student of Georgetown, Inc., and while there, launched the first coffee house on the campus of Georgetown University in 1994, that has since spawned 2 additional locations and is now the only non-Starbucks partner to Barnes & Noble in the United States.

William Walsh

Partner, Renovation and Project Management


Bill is responsible for all renovation, construction and project management efforts of Crimson Rock Capital. Bill is Founder and CEO of Walsh Associates, a renovation project management and FF&E purchasing firm that has provided services to leading institutional investors and developers such as Cornerstone Real Estate, HEI Hotels, Donohoe Construction, Rockbridge Capital, and others on projects throughout the USA, Canada and the Caribbean.

Bill is responsible for all renovation, construction and project management efforts of Crimson Rock Capital. Degree from the University of Colorado and an M.S. in Civil Engineering and Construction Management from Stanford University.
